Kent, I'll ask you the same question  I asked Kyle a few weeks ago.  Where would you put Lone Oak and why?

Lone Oak beat a good team in Hopkins Co. Central and are still undefeated. Now while I don't think Lone Oak's schedule is very hard (1, maybe two good teams), undefeated at this point should be rewarded. I didn't really look at the rankings because Calloway was off this week.

kentblue.....maybe you should look at this week's Litkenhous ratings on the Courier Journal's website. They're 4th in that poll out of 4A. And that has poll has a scientific formula to it's ratings. Bidwell and Miller were hard on Lone Oak compared to those ratings. And that's the ratings of Kentucky's largest newspaper.

Bigge...as far as I know, there are a handful of schools who have never beaten Mayfield in football.  Fulton City, Fulton County, Ballard Memorial...maybe others.  Trigg County had never beaten them until a couple years ago.  If I'm wrong, I'd love someone to tell me, because I don't want to sound like anymore of an idiot than I usually do.

hey eric congratulations on being a courier follower - probably a cnn 'watcher' also rather than paying attention to the fair & balanced fox network - hey check those 'scientific-formula' rankings of yours the last week of this season eric and then compare them to their first published for this season - toss in a few ( of your choice of course from during this season) -------------- then boast about the terrific journal - don't you know how 'rankings & polls work' - scientific you say huh eric - so is the collegiate (basketball & football) rankings and man we all know how accurate they are - crap bid and mill both were very kind and most generous with their voting & placement - when the season is all over maybe you'd like to go visit the 'wizard' you think eric - just follow the yellow brick road - it's sure smoother than the one 'we' have venturing to louisville...

Nice language kentblue.  I've heard when morons are trying to make a point that they can't back, they revert to foul language.  Come on, there are kids on this blog.  Clean it up.

hey bid i 'understand' the trapped flash ranking and how such works also - hard to jar a team when they remain undefeated and have established placement i realize - now 'me' i could maybe see lone oak @ #10, but i did say maybe - hey and i'm a fan and tickled purple with their accomplishments this season - one's strength of schedule is my 'main' measuring stick when comparing teams & districts - along with handling adversities & past experience with such - plus 'i' also have a secret 'scientific formula' as does the courier journal - isn't that right eric - fire'em back up guys and write soon...

I guess you're right kentblue. Lone Oak is one of only four unbeaten teams in 4A, was leading the state is scoring and scoring margin, was second in the state in run defense, has a Division I prospect quarterback who already has 36 TD passes, won both district games on the road.

Yeah, they have no business in the top 10.

I'm wondering if Caldwell, Calloway, Hop Central, Fulton City, and Heath are getting tired of being called easy since they are part of Lone Oak's schedule? Every single one of these teams have some great athletes.  By continually busting LO's chops about the schedule lessens these teams also. Have all of their wins been given to them? No, they are all fine ball clubs that on any given night will give you a run for your money.  So, for the sake of the kids, stop the bashing.

thanks for the 'nice-language' compliment mikie - with your 'self' incriminatory comments though, hey don't be so hard on your-self - one suggestion for you, go back and try actually reading the 'rules' for this blog - it's purpose, the set-up, the rules and how it's governed mikey - lastly, be sure and brush your teeth and go to bed earlier tonight - make your parents proud - you're a good boy mikie...

All right boys.  Everybody take a deep breath.  I want this blog to be a forum for you guys to discuss and debate.  I don't want it to become a vehicle for personal attacks...and lately that's what this has become.  In all honesty, I've got about a thousand other things to do besides babysitting you guys in here. Let's try to keep things a little more positive.

point taken 'bid' and i promise to use my inhaler more often - the blog is great and i really enjoy 'all' the comments - now 'steve' i never said lone oak didn't deserve to be ranked in the top ten - i've complimented the flash on several occasions and personally admire the team's accomplishments along with finally an excellent coaching staff - i just try to refrain from getting all twisted up in stats (alone) allowing considerations for a few other important factors which i've touched-on here & there also that's all - no-one can ever take their numbers away and i'm quite sure a measuring stick this teams stats will be for all the up-coming youth in the purple flash program for many years to come - i'll certainly be pulling for them come play-off time believe it or not steve...

I agree the polls really don't mean much, other than it is nice to be watched by the other fans when you get ranked. The real test is where your team finishes. I love the facts, Lone Oak leads in most of the stats in 4A in the state. The numbers are there and cannot be disputed. The teams Lone Oak has played and will play deserve more respect than some fans are giving them. I think it is interesting that some people feel they have to tear down their own teams to argue about a poll that has no bearing on the outcome of a season. Why can't we just agree there are some very good teams in Western Kentucky and this year Lone Oak is one of them. I would think that Calloway fans and Hopkins Central fans have plenty of other things to worry about with the game Friday night fast approching one of them is going to lose home field in the playoffs first round, that IS A BIG DEAL! Good luck to both teams I look forward to the playoffs.

I think for an area as non-urban as McCracken, Graves, Calloway, Marshall, etc...we all have some of the best football players in the State- county and city schools alike.  It is easy to get caught up in all that Lexington and Louisville have to offer...some schools are private and some recruit (like it or not, it is a fact)...and there are ALOT more players to choose from in the Big City.  So let's just play ball, boys...and may the best team win.  Maybe Lone Oak...Maybe Calloway...Maybe Marshall...Maybe Graves...Maybe Mayfield or Fulton or maybe not...remember "Facing the Giants"????  Let the boys decide this one...it is anyones game at play off time.  And oh yeah...GO LAKERS!!!

GC Fan...

1.  Let it go.  We've already been over why we didn't go to Daviess...repeatedly.

2.  That is just completely wrong.  We've been to 5 of your 6 games.  The only one we didn't go to was, drumroll please, Daviess.  Three times this year, your game was our game of the week.  You've gotten plenty of coverage this year.

3.  We're shooting 15 games this week...we only have 10 spots on the poll.  You can't be on the poll every week.  I'm sure on October 26th with Christian County and November 2nd with Calloway County you'll be on the poll.  Patience grasshopper, patience.

Between here and the kentuckypreps board, I think FC only cares about Mayfield and if they lose that game, they'll look at the season as a failure. Surely you have other things to worry about rather than a game thats a week from Friday?

Bidwell - Trust me, the Mayfield game has been on everyone's mind since August. ;)

Kyle - I think not. Coach Lohaus has said he isn't really worried about this game. Maybe some of the players and coaches are, but he says this will be a "learning experience" for the team, and hopefully they can learn some things that will benefit them in the playoffs.
After all, if you look at the standings, IF Fulton comes away with a win, they will most likely host Fulton County in the 1st round of the playoffs, which is a game they can win, and then play Mayfield in thr 2nd round.
Say they lose to Mayfield? Host Crittendon - a game that they barely won.

dogpound.g - Yes, Jacq will probably have some action against Mayfield.
There are also plenty of other speedsters and power runners for Fulton.
The Glass twins, Rouse, Porterfield - and let's not forget about Aaron Wilson. :D

I think the Mayfield game will be great for both teams. Mayfield has faced tough opponents so far, and it'll be interesting to see the defenses of both teams in action.

Fulton - 18 Mayfield - 14
