Wayne Lohaus for Mayor?!?

Wow!!!  Yes, that was three exclamation points.  Fulton City beats Mayfield 36-19 for the first time in 45 years.  Congrats to Coach Lohaus and the rest of the Bulldogs.  Lohaus told me he was a freshman in high school back in 1962 the last time Fulton won this game.  He said he didn't play a down, but enjoyed the show.  I'm sure he thoroughly enjoyed the show tonight.  I can't say enough about the entire Bulldog program.  After struggling for so many years on the gridiron, tonight may just have made the struggle worth it.  Again, congratulations!

As for Mayfield, it'll be interesting to see how the Cardinals handle things this week.  This was the first time the've lost a regular season district game in a generation.  Two weeks ago they were #1 in the state.  Now they're coming off back-to-back losses at home.  The schedule doesn't get any easier. With games at Marshall County and Caldwell County, it's not totally out of the realm of possibilities they could lose four in a row to end the regular season.  It's time for the Cardinals to circle the wagons.

Other news and notes...

  • I apologize again, Graves County fans.  Technology hosed us again tonight.  We'll have highlights on the web soon.
  • Marshall County may be peaking at the right time.  After that heartbreaking loss to Graves in week 3, they've ripped off 5 in a row...scoring almost 40 a night in the process.  They may be catching Mayfield at a good time next week.
  • Another big pat on the back to Calloway County.  They've now won 3 in a row after that hard-fought 34-30 win over Hopkins Central.  Last year they won 4 games.  At the beginning on the season, I challenged them to win 5 games this year.  I didn't think they'd do it so quickly.  They're now 5-3, and I'll be wearing Coach McKeel's red blazer on the air next week.  Considering he can fit me in his pocket, we may need to alter that thing a little bit.
  • What in the world has happened to Caldwell County?!?  They struggled as much as anybody the first two weeks of the year.  Now they've won 6 in a row, and have won 208 in the last for weeks.  They are on fire.
  • What in the world has happened to Crittenden County?!?  They struggled as much as anybody the first five weeks of the year.  They were 0-5 and had been outscored 212-49.  Now they've won four in a row and are threatening to finish the regular season at .500.  You have to be proud of the Rockets for not quitting on Al Starnes and the Crittenden coaching staff.
  • Greg tells me Lone Oak tried four onside kicks in the first half of their game with Muhlenberg North...a team that has lost 34 games in a row.  I'm all for working on some things during an actual game...but c'mon.  Really?!?  Four?
  • Lone Oak vs. Fulton City next week.  I can not wait.
  • Illinois playoff pairings come out Saturday.  Greg will have all of those for you.  Expect unbeaten Anna-Jonesboro and unbeaten Carterville to get #1 seeds.  Massac County hopes they've done enough ay 7-2 to get a first round home game.  I think they have.

That's all for now.

Feel free to chirp away.

What size does your red jacket need to be, Bidwell? Maybe a vote for the top ten now or does Calloway have to beat the Tennessee Titans next to get respect.

I'm a 42 long...and I look forward to wearing Laker Red next week...although it's going to clash badly with my hair.  But we knew that going in.

Yes, I'm sure you'll be getting a top 10 vote this week.  Greg and I will have our meeting Sunday night.  We'll let you know once we put our heads together.

well, I missed the score prediction by a few on Hop Central side but WOW what a game!!!  Should be a good first round match up...and hopefully a rematch with the Flash.  Congrats to Coach Mac and the entire Laker squad.  And boys, I love hearing my alma mater's Fight Song!!!!  And we will be looking for a custom, Laker Pride red sport coat in 42 long, Bidwell.  :) Miller, want one too?

Lakerfan4life...I don't want to drag Greg into my "mess."  Besides, two red coats on the same screen might cause some people's televisions to implode.  Mine will do just fine, and I'll be proud to pay my debt to the Laker nation.

After you show off that red blazer, don't forget about the "Believe in the BLUE" t-shirt that we discussed.  Fulton City held up their end of the deal tonight to make you a believer, so now it's your turn!

Lone Oak wasn't really using onside kicks. They looked to be more of a pooch kick. Their freshman kicker doesn't exactly blast them into the end zone anyway, so the field position usually works out about the same.

Nice win for Calloway, I guess, but I was surprised that it was that close. Maybe the Lakers were flat after the big Mayfield win or maybe they just don't play as well at home.

some-thing tells me sort of doubtful any interest there will be in the graves highlight film - what a shocking loss to my ears when i heard such via the radio prior to gglory -  quite a wonderful gift for the marshall team & fans - heard they were very very thankful to their friends of graves county and wished all well chugging down the 'crow-platters'...what a win for the dogs over the cards - now that's high school football - game of the week for sure - backed their mouths the players did so 'hats off' to the mighty dogs and the coach - now just keep in mind 'all' big cal started the cards down-fall and marshall will add a 3rd consecutive loss for sure...didn't think the cal  / hc match-up would be quite the game that it was - although a win is a win is a win...if 'only' lone oak's coach, & 'some' very warped fans (not 'all' now i said 'some') could grasp & realize that very same concept - just sickening, absolutely sickening - my sincere 'apologies' to the team members and coaching staff of mule north - no 'kids' deserve such humiliation - really sad people...

Where's GCfan? All that talk about you being there to see them wrap up 6A. So much for that. Go Marshals!

Hopkins Co. Central made it much closer with Calloway than I thought they would. They'll be hungry for payback in November.

Congrats to Fulton City!

Humiliation???  Muhlenberg North played the dirtiest game I've ever witnessed. LO was lucky no one was hurt by the cheap shots they were taking at LO.  Too bad you don't see Muhlenberg North as sad; to be ejected for unsportsmanlike behavior is the ultimate sin.  I guess when you have nothing to lose, you have the right to play anyway you want.
If I were a Muhlenberg North fan, I would be humiliated by the actions of some of their players on the field.

With all the crap Fulton has been talking (parents, fans, PLAYERS), I hope Mayfield cleans War Memorial with the Dogs. It's getting old, your settin yourselves up for a plate full of crow, which none of you will take.

I'll have to wade through the thousands of excuses on here after this one.....
October 19, 2007 1:29 PM"

Then how about we give our crow to you? ;)
Fantastic game by both teams last night at War Memorial. I thoroughly enjoyed the game.
I have never seen as many fans at a football game as last night. Both sides of the field were absolutely packed, and on the Fulton side, we had 2-3 deep along the fence in some places.
It almost seemed like the entire town of Fulton was there to see the game.

Bidwell - That shirt will sure go great with your red jacket, eh?

I'm really eager to see the rankings this week.
Again, congrats to Coach Lohaus and the Bulldogs.

Looking forward to the Lone Oak vs Fulton City game next week!

Kentblue is just trying to get a rise out of Lone Oak fans, and it usually works. Every week he has some complaint about Lone Oak.

Taylor County beat Jackson County 75-8 on Friday. Kentblue, have you dashed off your apology to the Jackson County faithful yet? Murray beat Reidland 62-7. Where's your apology to Reidland in the name of Murray? Bell County 63, McCreary County 0. Trimble County 60, Bracken County 0. Better get busy, bud.

i guess mike i personally didn't stick around long enough to 'witness' what you describe - sure hate to hear of such as it's definitely pretty sad taking place during any h'sch f'ball game or other type competitive event - on the other hand nor can i say such surprises / shocks me either - i realize it has always happened here & there in all levels of play also - not good what we all have witnessed even out of our professional ranks these days - lack of  taught / practiced sportsmanship creates the situation in the first place - glad no injuries resulted from the entire situation exhibited by the teams  & staffs last night - but they will just keep watching...

Heh, heh, what's a matter, Kentblue, you seem to be losing it a little. Did the fact that Lone Oak played some starters in the third quarter shake you up that bad? You make me laugh.

Wow, I'm sure Lone Oak really appreciates a "fan" that gets sick over their play (antics?) and feels the need to apologize for them just because they score too many points. I guess you think Muhlenberg North deserves a blue ribbon for participation. Shouldn't even keep score either, I guess.

Too bad about your 'Cats getting bitten by the Gators. I guess Florida left Tebow in a little too long for you, eh?

After watching the local cablecast of the Laker Replay this week, it seems the Laker team has your jacket ready for pickup, Mr. Bidwell. I hope you bring Chad and his camera to accept the delivery. I am sure the Lakers will not have any problem with you donning a blue Fulton City shirt under it on Friday night either. Congrats to the 'dogs!
