Friday Night's 2nd Round Games

Obviously, most of the talk this week is about the Calloway/Lone Oak matchup.  We do have some other games going on, and I don't want fans of those teams to feel like they're lost in the shuffle.  I've posted threads for each game in the region, so fans can chat about them. In case you can't find them, go to this link and chat away.  http://community.wpsdtv.com/blogs/bidwells_blog/default.aspx

As for the Fulton City/Marshall County comparisons, I know there are some people in Fulton who are feeling slighted.  Here are the facts as I know them.

1.  From talking with Fulton coach Wayne Lohaus, I don't believe FC officially appealed to the KHSAA last year.  They simply took the punishment knowing they had screwed up.  MC did appeal, and obviously it went their way.

2.  A student-athlete who transfers in to a new district is automatically ineligible for one year.  As soon as the proper paperwork is filed, most kids are nearly instantly granted eligibility.  MC argued that since their kid hadn't played sports in two years, this rule didn't necessarily apply.  In FC's case, their student-athlete did play a sport in the previous school year.

Both situations are very similar, but there are a few differences that make each one unique.  In the end, the KHSAA Board of Control only reversed the decision by an 8-6 vote, so it wasn't like this thing was an landslide decision or anything.

Thanx for those facts...i so do see it from a differnt point of view... my point being that in both situations, the students were being punished when it was not their fault.  The players job was to go on the field and play... which they did... i t was someone else that failed to do their job!

No game of the week that we're letting you guys vote on.  We've felt left out after 12 weeks.  I'm sure it won't take a rocket scientist to figure out what it will be this week.

What is more impressive?  74 touchdown passes or only 4 interceptions?

lone oak fan, hey i like your question...

so i'll toss this in...college scouts when reviewing his passing attempts / completions along with several other ratios, factors & considerations which i won't rehash again, 4 interceptions speaks pretty darn loudly performance wise - maybe not nationally, but loudly...

what say you about that pigskinparty...

I have to admit that the Mayfield Cardinals have done better . But I have a feeling that the Bulldogs are going to have to work for this one after the last game.Stomping on our cardinal just means revenge. GO BIG RED!!!!!!

This is in response to the post from Mommabear43.

It should be noted that the Bulldog players were not involved in stomping on the cardinal after the game.  That disrespectful act was committed by a few "fair weather fans" that I did not even recognize.  Some of our coaches and players were even yelling at those involved to stop and get off the field.

Please do not associate the acts of a few fans lacking common sense after the game to the team who won the battle on the field during the game.  From what I saw there was good sportsmanship between the two teams previously and I certainly expect to see the same tonight.

If you are going to point fingers in the name of revenge, make sure you are pointing at the right people.  I'll support you 100% if you want to say a few fans were out of line, but please don't insinuate that our players were involved in what happened.

Believe in the BLUE!
