How I voted...

It was just me voting this week in the KHSAA basketball polls, so I'll take the blame for anything you don't like.

I didn't put any teams from far western Kentucky in either the girls or boys top ten.  Calloway's girls dropped just out of the poll after losing to Christian County last week.  If they can go 3-for-3 this week, including beating a pretty solid Graves County team at home Friday night, I don't see why they won't be back in the Top 10 next week.

Paducah Tilghman was probably the closest boys team to making it.  I think I still need to see more consistency out of them to put them among the top teams in the state.  I did slide in University Heights at #10 after their All A Classic win.  They may be a "small school", but they obviously have a ton of talent.  They're going to be a tough out come March.

Anyway...here's how my poll looked.  The official Associated Press poll is here.

Boys:

1. Mason County
2. Lex. Bryan Station
3. Lexington Catholic
4. Holmes
5  Scott County
6. Lou. Jeffersontown
7. Muhlenberg North
8. Elliott County
9. Lou. Eastern
10. University Heights

Girls:

1. Lex. Paul Dunbar
2. Lexington Catholic
3. Elizabethtown
4. Lou. Butler
5. Lex. Christian
6. Lou. Iroquois
7. Lou. DuPont Manual
8. Marion Co.
9. Franklin-Simpson
10. Montgomery Co.

I'm also pitching around the idea of running a blog-exclusive NASCAR fantasy league this year.  If you actually take the time to read this, I might as well try to let you get something out of it.   I'll rummage around the station and try to find some prizes to give away to make it worth your while.

I've set up the league through Yahoo.com.  Go to this page to sign up.  You'll need a Yahoo account to play.  Once you create a team it will ask you what you want to do.  You'll need to join a group, then join a private league.  You'll need the group number and league password.  The Group ID# is 25003.  The Password is "wpsdblog".  Hopefully this makes sense.  Tell your friends.  We certainly can't have enough people in this.  It's free...and there will be prizes.  What more can you ask for?

YouTube link of the day...if you don't know by now, I have a ridiculous love for the Rocky movies.  This made me laugh.

Speaking of making me laugh...I can honestly say I had never heard of this Amy Winehouse woman until she started hitting all the tabloids for her amazingly poor behavior.  Apparently she sings.  Apparently.  Anyway, this story turned up on WPSDTV.com today.  As far as I'm concerned, her picture is going in the Nick Nolte wing of the "Worst Celebrity Pictures Hall of Fame."  It's horrifying and tremendous...all rolled into one.

The floor is yours.

Bid,
How can you not have Callo.....

Just Kidding. I understand where ya'll are coming from. The loss to Christian was kind of a baffling one, considering the Lady Lakers beat them 72-38(I think) earlier in the season. Although they dropped some games in early season tournaments that they shouldn't have (Massac, Milan, that team down in Florida) the only KY losses for Calloway is Christian (recieving votes for top 10, and already one win over the Lady Colonels) and a VERY strong Franklin Simpson squad that you have at number 9. I agree that they may not be to 10 right now, but definatly top 20, if not top 15. The only thing that scares me is Marshall. Why? Because Howard Beth is still Howard Beth. And the fact that the Lady Marshals have played Calloway close in both meetings and we all know from last year that sweeping a team in the regular season and even the district tournament, means NOTHING when the games head to Racer Arena and the RSEC. Other than that speedbump, I think this will be the best season in Lady Laker Basketball History, so far.
Thanks for writing again, the round ball is fun too, isn't it?
