I am thanking my lucky stars that calm weather is ahead for much of the weekend. Believe it or not, back to back big weather events can really drain a meteorologist. Severe weather Tuesday then a winter storm on Wed Night and Thursday is not typically something we see so close together. A metoeorlogist usually enjoys the challenge of one such event and it alone can be tiring but two can take all the energy you have. Lets just say....TGIF! One thing I am happy about is that these events give us alot of opportunity to grow as forecasters. I mentioned in an earlier posting that winter weather is very difficult to predict. The more active the winter pattern is, the greater the opportunity we have to compare storms and patterns. Granted, no two storms are exactly the same but each experience gives us better insight to the next.
On to next week's weather. Early model information shows another chance of some rough weather Monday night into Tuesday. A strong surge of warm air is making its way here this weekend and will set the stage for 60 degree weather Monday and Tuesday, along with strong winds, and the potential for strong storms and heavy rain. Not what everyone really wants to hear but the warmer weather sounds good to me! We will be keeping a close watch on this system all weekend to see if models can get a better hold on the timing of the event. Trent Okerson will have an update Sunday night and the entire Weather Authority team will be updating during the day on Monday. Lets hope my next post is not warning of another outbreak of severe weather!
And for Jeff Bidwell....I think the Giants will pull of the upset of the year for the Superbowl. (By the way...I dont really care who wins the Superbowl since the Brownies are left waiting another year!)
