The winter storm that has developed over the region is fairly strong and will continue to impact the counties along and north/west of the Ohio River. In rare cases, storms like this can produce thundersnow! We have had several reports of this phenomenon in Cape Girardeau, Carbondale, and Paducah.

Icy roads are a major concern this afternoon and evening in the areas under a WINTER STORM WARNING. Travel is not advised, especially in Southern Illinois and SE Missouri.
