Faith Community Nursing:
Eager Hearts, Willing Hands
Questions to consider:
Pastor: “Does my congregation need a faith community nurse?”
Nurse: “Am I being called to serve as a faith community nurse?”
Congregation: “How could the ministry of faith community nursing help us?”
Faith community nurses are blessed with gifts of compassion and faith. As an expression of faith and service to others, they embrace congregation and community, offering gifts of spiritual care and healing, and resources for maintaining wellness. Christ came to heal, teach, and love, and faith communities are to do the same. This ministry continues Christ’s healing mission through the skills and love of nurses. These nurses provide a prevention-based holistic method of health care.
Pastors and nurses from all denominations are invited to come together from 9-12 noon at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Mayfield on Saturday, February 9 OR Saturday, February 16 at Madisonville Community College, Health Science Division to hear more about the ministry of Faith Community Nursing and learn how the congregation can be enriched by this service. This free session will provide the knowledge, attitudes and skills central to the role of the Faith Community Nurse. Eligible nursing participants will receive 3 contact hours for attending this introductory session. For more information, please contact Carol Bradford: 270-217-9949 or cbbradford@bellsouth.net.
